Recommended for: fantasy lovers

It begins somewhat disjointed and the story is slow to start. The characters, however, (though NOT likable), are complex, conflicted and absolutely compelling.

When the story finally comes together, the reader is rewarded for her patience. It's BEAUTIFUL. Well, beautiful in a very dark way. I can't wait to see where this series takes me. I ordered the second book moments after I finished the first.
