Loosely modeled on the life of Vincent Gigante, this is an interesting read. I liked the few parts where Breslin described the subtle conversion of Greenwich Village from an Italian conclave into a yuppie mecca.

Aldwin Thanks for the info. Reading about Gigante on Wikipedia gave some context to the novel and incentive to continue reading the book when I'm about to give up. BTW, was this something the author/publisher mentioned or were you just able to make the connection?

Greetings, To my knowledge there has been only one racketeer who pretended to be crazy in public....Gigante. You see the idea in other fiction works, but he seems to be the source of it all.
