really liked it

In the quest for good literature and in an effort to steer away from hit and miss modern stuff I stumbled across Frances Burney. I think she is largely unrecognized but I enjoyed this book very much. It's not my favorite classic as I sometimes enjoy the heavier themes and more serious topics. This book deals with a few serious themes but in a very lighthearted way. It's filled with comedy and perhaps the "real" everyday interactions of people in this era. Not everyone was well mannered I sometimes think and in this book we meet the genteel well mannered characters as well as some memorable pranksters and irreverant characters. At the heart of it it's a love story and I liked the heroine for her social awkwardness, mis-steps and honesty. It's wrtten letter style which is not my favorite but I've since got another book by this author not written in that style and I'm very much looking forward to it.
