Not my favorite by Chabon. Though that's mostly because I don't usually like the short-story format, and this book was no exception. In tone an characters, the stories are a lot like "Mysteries of Pittsburgh" or "Wonder Boys." The only one that grabbed me was "Smoke" about a washed-up baseball player at a friend's funeral. The last few were better because they were unconnected vignettes in the life of a boy whose parents divorce.
