bookshelves: fantasy-and-romance

A really excellent and enjoyable fantasy, with a lot of heart. The heroes are diversely portrayed, wise, humorous, headstrong, all heroic; the landscape is vivid and well-described; the villains are frightening. Like a good fantasy novel, its scenes, characters, and locales run the gamut from benign to perilous, valiant to wicked, and so forth. It is a good imagined world, and I welcome the fact that there are five more books in the land of Prydain to enjoy. The Welsh nomenclature is also a genuine treat, and adds much to the atmosphere and "flavor."
