incredibly insightful. orwell translates his knack for people into this clever yet powerful accounting of the mine conditions in england during the 30's 40's. in order to compose this commissioned work, the author actually lived among the people about whom he was writing, and it shows. though it is a work of fiction, the imagery he conjures could not have been simply fabricated.
