Toby Young declares that he must have an aura of dislikeability - the evidence in this book would tend to concur, although this is a fact he acknowledges himself towards the end of the book.

Even on the written page he didn't endear me to him, so what he must have been like in person around that time, I dread to think.

The book is a good expose of the shallowness which the author gravitated to. A large part of me thought that he got what he deserved: when in Rome...

His naivtey was striking, in terms of his assumption that he could totally change the landscape around him.

I admire his candidness, but he displayed all the traits which I find abhorrent, and tried to justify his actions by parading his education and "connections".

I came away from the book with an overwhelming feeling of euphoria that I'm just not intersted in such superficial aspects of life.
