I liked what this book promised - a tale of magicians and demons and the two brothers who must deal with them - but the book didn't deliver and I ended up putting it down after so long. The world didn't draw me in, and the characters never felt real to me. The quips between the two brothers kinda grated on me because they felt so forced (stuff like "Get in the kitchen and make me dinner, woman!" was kinda... meh), and I didn't find any scene nearly as tense or as amusing as it was no doubt intended to be. Plus, the world seemed overly complicated - which I likely wouldn't have minded, had I been enjoying the rest of the book, but since I wasn't, I just got bored. Seeing the reviews on this site, it's obvious that many other people feel differently and enjoyed reading this, but I couldn't get through it. I was mildly interested by the plot, but the delivery just didn't do it for me.
