did not like it
bookshelves: novels, dull-ending
Read in April, 1996

If I had to give an example illustrating what deus es machina means, I would chose this book.
It's a pity Collins wasn't able to come up with a more imaginative twist at the end of his -- otherwise -- brilliant story.
One is tempted to give it a try and find some other ending in order to save the book.
