This is the first full Alpha/Omega book. It is helpful to read the short story of how Charles and Anna are introduced to each other first. The book opens with them very early in their relationship, a matter of days after Charles brings her home. Charles is trying to figure out having a mate, and Anna is trying to adapt to life after abuse. At the funeral of a pack member, who she is comes into focus. When Charles is taken from her for medical attention, she is assaulted by the Marrok’s mate. She holds her own and Charles is sent on a mission about a rogue wolf. Anna goes with him to make their connections closer. They deal with a lot in the mountains; find a changed war vet, and a black witch. You see some of the past of the old wolves, Asil and Bran. Fighting hard, Anna helps take her down. By the end of the story, Anna is getting used to her actual status and her future with Charles. A great read of a series that is connected to the Mercy Thompson series.
