really liked it

This confusingly complicated but beautifully executed work is worth the effort it takes to follow the ensemble of characters and plot development. Still, it took me following a Cliff's Notes version before I could make heads or tails of most of the characters and intense study to decide if I actually liked them. But I did. All of them (or, at least the ones I was able to figure out who they were). Esther is a heroine on par with Elizabeth Bennett and Anne Elliot.

This Dickens work won't be adored by the impatient masses of today, but it shouldn't be ignored by the book lover.

Ami This is my favorite Dickens' novel. I was lucky enough to read it under a Victorian Lit professor at the U. Probably the only reason I got through it.
