I am new to short stories. It took a little while for the book to draw me in, as I incorrectly thought that the stories were isolated anecdotes. However once I gave it chance, I realized that the stories of Indian culture, Indian expats, and Indian Americans were all well written stories of love. A community's caring for an invalid. A woman's lust for a married man. A child's adoration for an elder. A husband and wife's falling out of love. While the stories are often detailing mundane aspects of daily life, the exceptional writing is of a calming and reflective mood that plays on the many facets of love.
