I have to commend Gerald Lund for the research that must have gone in to this book, and I especially appreciate the historical notes he adds to the end of each chapter. And as I began this story I was sure it was going to be a five star read... but as it went on and on, I was less captivated with it and thought it could have been about 300 pages shorter (it's around 800 pages, I think). The Undaunted is the perfect title, though, as it perfectly describes those brave pioneers...

Bryn My mom read this book. She said it was a little too long, but she also says it's really good.

Sandy T I requested it at the library 'cause I didn't want to buy it, and I think I'm like #146!
