This was a different, more scientific take on vampires. It seemed to me more of an introduction to the series rather than a good stand-alone. I didn't really connect with Cal or Lace. The asides about parasites were relevant, but made me feel a little like I was reading a biology book. I thought this book was a little dull. I liked the twist, but it seemed to me like Westerfeld punted by bringing in Morgan's story.

Misty I loved this kind of crazy, gross-out but true take on the whole myth. And I thought it would make a great boy read. You liking it?

Cassie I'm only a few pages into it so far, but it's fairly engrossing. I do get the feeling that it would make for good boy reading.

Now, by gross, you don't mean Bitten gross do you??
