This book tried too hard. It was like that hipster at the party talking about musicians you've never heard of, and you just keep agreeing, all the while looking for an exit. I kept waiting for a story to develop, feeling nervous that it was happening and I was missing it. A DJ has the "most awesome beat ever!" and moves to Germany to find and collaborate with "the best jazz musician you've never heard of!" Maybe I was supposed to get more out of the DJ's experience in Deutschland, but I just didn't. The references to East vs. West Berlin, the wall, jazz, DJs, etc... it was all over the place, and I never felt it come together.

Tim I remember being in your car right after college where you tried to impress upon me how sweet the Strokes were, while I looked for an exit from said car while it was moving.
