I love the way Alice Sebold writes. Her words have taste and feeling, depth and breadth, as if I could cradle the words, bring them into myself, drown in their warmth and beauty. Heavy weighty words like, "In the walls of my sex there was horror and blood, in the walls of hers there were windows" and "But she had her own moonlit skin, her ocean eyes. She was hollow and lost and abandoned up" echo even now, ensuring that this will be one book, however haunting and troubling it was at times, that I will not soon forget.
