This book is about two women who are brought together. One of them, Margaret is in her '70s and lives alone in her mansion in Seattle with her valuable antiques and has a brain tumor with only a limited amount of time left in her life. Since her house is so huge, she decides to have room and board and takes in a younger woman named Wanda, who is somewhere in her 30s (though we're never given her age). She has come to Seattle to search for her boyfriend.
At first, the story really didn't engage me and I found the writing to be too flashy, like the author was trying to shove it in my face and I just didn't understand the character's motives, so I had a hard time continuing the book and left it alone for a week before picking it up again. The second half becomes much more interesting and I'm able to ignore the pretentious writing as we meet new characters who will enter into their lives, one of them being a little old Jewish lady who bowls, wears Hawaiian print shirts, and has a three...more
