bookshelves: children, historical, family-story

This Victorian family story was one of my mother’s favorites, and then became one of mine. It’s full of sweet, sacrificing children, goodness reaping rewards, dread disesases, mysterious wealthy benefactors, making much of little, and basking in familial love. Just know what it is going in, and love it for all its cliches, because it’s like a warm blanket on a rainy day.
