it was amazing
bookshelves: religion
Read in June, 1994

A touching novel of great emotional & intellectual depth, a coming-of-age story of two Orthodox Jewish boys, one of them Hasidic. I appreciated the strong sense of relationships between fathers & sons, the continuing of faith commitment accompanied by an increasing openness to intellectual currents at work in mid-20th-century intellectual life. A fine book.
