This book takes place in Egypt in 1821. A British widow, who is a closeted genius, is living in Egypt with her brother. After her brother goes missing, she enlists the help of the British consulate who thrust upon her the fourth son of Lord Hargate, Rupert.

I enjoyed the dialogue between the H/H. Loretta Chase writes wonderful dialogue. I couldn't put the book down at first, but then it seemed to drag a bit in the middle. I think part of it was the setting. I am not all that interested in Egyptian tombs and such.

I read this book without having read the first. I wonder if I should've read that first? But, I don't think I missed out on anything throughout the story until the Epilogue.

I am interested in reading the next, but I'm not racing to read it this very second.
