The second book in the Cassandra Palmer Series, in my opinion is an improvement from the first. It picks up after Cassandra tries to hide from the senate in order to delay her role as Pythia and to find Antonio ( the Vampire that killed her parents and is in possession of her fathers spirit) and also her rival Pythia Myra. She works along with the very shifty and untrustworthy mage John Pritkin in order to go into the land of the Fae to find them. Pritkin was almost likable in the second installment , but his dislike for Cassandra is annoying. He seems to hate her for strange reasons. Hopefully her new status will stop him from wanting to kill her. A lot more magical creatures show up in the book like "The Graeae",ogres , and even zombies-Elvis and Jimmy Hendrix raised from the dead for entertainment purposes.(which also reminded me of Charlaine Harris and the "Bubba" character) At times Cassandra does seem to wine a lot and it takes her awhile to make decisions that seem so simple, but I still can't wait till I get my hands on the third book.
