I have a weakness for epic family sagas filled with love, deceit, passion, tragedy and mystery. The grand tale of Aurora's labyrinthian Chilean, Chinese, and American heritage kept me riveted to the pages. This is the first Allende book I've read and it won't be my last.

Quiltgranny I LOVE all Allende's books - the first one I read was Paula, and it is absolutely wonderful. Be sure to have tissues at the ready, though.

Lisa I don't know what I expected when I picked this book up, but it wasn't this. I had no idea that Daughter of Fortune was a prequel to this book. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I'll also add Paula to my TBR.
