** spoiler alert ** The notebook of death is back in Light's possession - almost. His plan moves on swiftly now, and pieces start falling to their places as he planned before letting go of his own notebook.

While L and his team are interrogating Rem and trying to find out more about Kira's source of power, Light and Misa play their own game behind their backs. Misa, blinded by her love for Light, is willing to do anything to aid him - and that is exactly what Light has always been betting on.

As the team comes closer to the conclusion that Misa was definitely connected to Kira, Light's desire to kill L finally comes to fruition.

Ruyk returns as well! How I have missed him.

Otherwise this volume was a turning point in the series, and I'm waiting to see whether it is a turn to worse; with L out of the picture, someone else must succeed his place. Who will that be? And who is going to stop Kira's reign over the world?
