OK, but a bit disappointing.. I guess I really wanted it to be Florence's answer to Venice's Brunnetti series, but this book is nowhere nearly as accomplished.. The plot is not really that enthralling, the writing is pretty wooden (maybe something got lost in translation..) the characters are pretty one-dimensional and predictable and it just plods along without gaining momentum until the end.. I also found the sex scenes totally gratuitous and awkward and out of place. Finally, I got no "feel" for the city of Florence.. the story could have been taking place anywhere! Again, I admit to a bias, since I was inadvertedly and constantly comparing it to the Brunnetti series - where you can practically smell the canals, and you feel like you know the characters so well!
