really liked it
Read in August, 2009

I was first attracted to this by it's interesting premise, and I thought it was a very well-written literary suspense novel with some really great prose, vivid imagery, and engaging characters. I'm not usually a fan of the anti-hero, so I was surprised how invested I was in Libby and her search for the truth. The past and present were woven together masterfully, and I was just as interested in Patty's handling of the accusations against Ben as I was in finding out who killed Libby's family. I did think that there was a piece of information that just fell into Libby's lap at the end to explain a lot of things, and that seemed too convenient, which took away from the finale's ultimate impact.
