I thought the strength of this book was the discussion of fishing, and there wasn't even that much discussion of it. Everything else that Kurlansky tried to talk about (Gloucester history, ethnic cultures, recipes...) seemed disjointed, almost like filler. I will try to read Cod, or perhaps Salt, but after that I'm done with Kurlansky.
