really liked it

The story really captivated me, but I found that I got more out of the text than the images. When I'm reading a graphic novel, I expect the images to be more integral to the storytelling, not merely a supporting element. Still, it's a great book with insight to family issues, queer issues, and mental health issues. And I particularly enjoyed the metaliterary elements, where so much of the story was tied up with other works of literature. For a book worm like me, it's easy to see why someone would place their own memoir in the framework of books.
