I cannot rate this book- a fictional narrative in the voice of a young girl sold by her father at age nine to be a prostitute on the Mumbai streets.
Now fifteen, she relates the events in her life in a stream of consciousness weaving her own dreamscapes and perceptions through the weft of her daily activities and interactions. The book is stunning, compelling and at the same time utterly devastating.
The profits of the U.S. edition will be paid to child protection groups.
