really liked it
bookshelves: all-time-faves

The positive: Extremely sympathetic main characters, a touching and realistic portrait of growth in both a family and a group of new friends, a sweetly strange love story, an intriguing finale, great writing...

The negative: Touches a bit on censorship, which may bother some; the crazy art girl (love interest) wears bras decorated with various anti-ogling messages, which could either raise interesting discussions or snickering.

The summary: One of my enduring favorites, and one I recommend to anyone who feels like they don't fit in.
