Jack and Melissa are happily settled with their 9 m.o. adopted daughter until the sinister birth father and his judge father show up and demand her back. Cue myriad extended subplots that eventually all have to tie together, cheesy renegade-dad lines as Jack tries to get his daughter back, and insulting depictions of latinos. Two dimensional characters abound. The convoluted plot descends further and further into absurdity. And the narrator of this audiobook sounds like an affable 1970s game show host. I only checked this out to see what Box is like as an author. I can see why he appeals to regular readers of thrillers/suspense, but it is not my genre. At least I tried again.
