I reviewed this book for School Library Journal, so I won't repeat myself here except to say that it's an entertaining work of historical fiction, set in Carthage, Alexandria and Rome (plus a lot of time at sea) around the time of the Second Punic War. The plucky female protagonist and the handsome captive Roman soldier will appeal to many middle school readers.
