The narration by Daniel Philpott brings this from a strong 4* to a strong 5*. The book was fun when I read it, but the talented narration by Philpott made the book even better. The main male character, Hugo, is from Yorkshire, and Philpott does a masterful Yorkshire accent! That alone this worth the listen.

Jane Stewart You have me intrigued. I'd decided to try one of the Heyer AUDIOBOOKS. I didn't care for the book Venetia. I can't remember exactly why because it was two years ago. Should I try this one? Or should I try another?

Carrie I really enjoyed this one. Philpott does a good Yorkshire accent, even if a few times the other characters were not as well delineated. I also really enjoyed the audio of Beauvallet and These Old Shades. However, for regency, try Cotillion, Frederica, Black Sheep, or Lady of Quality. Well...I guess I enjoy most all of them. Just don't get an abridged one, even if two of them are narrated by the wonderful Richard Armitage. Right now I'm listening to The Reluctant Widow. This is more a mystery with some romance, but still wonderful, imo.
