really liked it
bookshelves: children-s
Read in July, 2009

The 39 Clues series is back on track with this installment by Jude Watson. No more goofy love story between Amy and her cousin (although it isn't dropped completely, which would have been inauthentic, she seems to be getting over it). In this edition, the chase is back on in Egypt, and the siblings receive a message from their grandmother just as they are wondering if she was really the person they thought she was. As usual, lots of interesting historical info included in an unobtrusive way and another good cliff-hanger. Also some good background information on the kids and their grandmom - filling in some holes from previous books.
I feel like I can recommend this series to boys again, glad it didn't continue on the path of The Sword Thief. Looking forward to the next one.
