Marti getting ready to go back to school, Melissa?

Melissa This is actually required reading for our whole staff for the summer. I haven't even cracked it yet. I don't think it's a "sit and read page by page" kind of book but I figured I'd at least skim it before we go back!

Marti Our reading is The Daily Five. I have been avoiding the reading also...

Melissa We also have to read "The Power of Our Words" - it's a Responsive Classroom book - that one I'm excited about! :-) I'd purchased it for myself before it was assigned and have it on the "to-read" pile for months!

I'm not familiar with the "Daily Five" - I hope it's more interesting than PLCs! :-)

Marti as I haven't started reading it yet - the only positive I see is it is thin!!! We are a school in need of improvement as the special education portion of children did not make the required growth and this is part of it of the plan to help the teachers be more available and actually use differentiation to work with all the students and not expect me to continue to do all the reading with them. the are moving to a three tier approach and I am pleased. Special education children need more reading not less!!!
