really liked it

The Well Beloved is a strange tale about a successful sculptor (He never does any work in the book) who is fickle in love and, for his entire life, flits from woman to woman (three generations in the same family!) trying to find his ideal. The book is narrated Robert Powell who eased me into Hardy's 19th century world and language.
