Surprisingly full of insight, very moving and quite atmospheric for a childrens book.
Lumina is a little ophaned begger girl who is despised by the villagers who turn her away at any opportunity. Armed only with her lamp she leaves town only to become frightened in the forrest. Her lamp is blown out by the wind and she fears the worst but help is at hand from a boy on his way home. Her lamp is lit and all is well as she goes to live with the boY and his family.
