I always liked the Disney version of Alice in Wonderland, but after seeing "Alice" on the syfy channel, I decided I needed to read the real story.. It was really awesome to read the original and know where all the stuff in the movies came from.. and all those drug-related theories are just silly.. This is a story that was written for a little girl. Lewis Carroll is a genius.. of course, I'm not a literary expert.

Lewis Carroll
“The time has come," the walrus said, "to talk of many things: Of shoes and ships - and sealing wax - of cabbages and kings”

Lewis Carroll
“And how many hours a day did you do lessons?' said Alice, in a hurry to change the subject.
Ten hours the first day,' said the Mock Turtle: 'nine the next, and so on.'
What a curious plan!' exclaimed Alice.
That's the reason they're called lessons,' the Gryphon remarked: 'because they lessen from day to day.”
