Repairs going on at my house so nothing to do but read. Lucky for me. This was a lovely story about the resilience of the human spirit, the horrors of war and the hurt of Alzheimer's. During the siege of Leningrad in 1941, the Hermitage begins boxing up all of the art treasures. One young docent makes a memory box of each treasure in her mind to help her withstand the tragedies of the siege. When she becomes a victim of Alzheimer's these memories begin to become more real than everyday life.
