i really enjoyed this book for the parts that were all about the craftmanship of being a cobbler. It was full of the luscious descriptions of how to create something exquisite that I find so appealing in books (whether that is making food or making shoes or giving someone the perfect haircut). there were some romantic elements that i found alternatingly titillating, frustrating and teetering on the edge of predicatbility--but never slouching into the storyline i thought they were headed towards. (which was surprisingly frustrating to me as a listener!)
i have to say that the first chapter of this book set my teeth on edge and i was pretty sure i was going to hate the entire book, but i'm glad i stuck with it. not my most favorite book ever, but one i looked forward to each time i drove in the car.
