This is a good one! What if you inherited magic from your mother, a magic that you must use or go crazy? But if you DO use it, it uses you up, and the more you use it, the sooner you die.
This is what 15-year-old Reason Cansino discovers when her mother, who had denied any existence of magic and kept them constantly moving, has a breakdown that puts her in a mental hospital. Now Reason must go to live with the grandmother she has always been told was evil. Why else would she find the bones of a dead cat buried in the shed, and black feathers hidden under her pillow?
A compelling premise, set in Australia, with a fast-moving plot that leaves you breathless for the second installment, Magic Lessons.
