I've been re-reading these (read them first when I was in grade school). Yes, they are formulaic. Yes, they're old-school and have de-facto racism and sexism present in the stories. Yes, Edgar Rice Burroughs wasn't the most subtle guy with foreshadowing ever. Still, I love them dearly. Man, things happen in these stories. There's no navel-gazing. It's been a great trip down memory lane.

Derek Yes, strictly for prose and the romantic (in the old sense of the word) vision, Burroughs is a lot of fun.
