really liked it
bookshelves: humor

This humor is so universal, so wonderfully appropriate to the 21st century, that the occasional reminders that it was written in the 19th (the occasional casual bias that would be unacceptable today or the reference to sailing being as close as man has yet come to flying) always startled me. Oh, yes, I'd have to remember, we're talking 1889 here. That a book could go through 120 printings is astonishing; that it could deserve to, even more amazing.
