Wow! This series by Brandon Mull just keeps getting better and better! Kendra and Seth Sorenson are unusual kids. Kendra is "fairy kind", which means she can see and talk to fairies; Seth, due to an encounter in one of the previous books with a spirit, now has magical powers of his own. The children live on a preserve with their grandparents. This preserve is no ordinary one, however. It houses all sorts of magical creatures, from fairies to centaurs to water nymphs. The children, along with their grandparents, are part of a group called the Knights of the Dawn. It is their mission to keep magical artifacts out of the hands of an evil group called the Society of the Evening Star, headed by a mysterious person called The Sphinx. All of the books in the series are literal page-turners, and although thick, can be read at one to two sittings.

Fablehaven has been nominated for the Cybilis Award 2009. Now in the third year, the Cybils are an international series of book awards selected by a talented panel of children's and young adult book bloggers. The award seeks to find books that strike the balance between literary quality and kid appeal.
