Flipping Out, by Marshall Karp, A. Narrated by Tom Spechschulte, produced by Recorded Books, downloaded from audible.com.

This book begins with five cops sneaking away from their wives and girl friends on a night off to play poker on the boat of one of them, Reggie. Reggie, Terry, Tony and Charlie all have wives. Mike has a girl friend because his wife died two years ago. The wives of the cops have joined together with a clever mystery author. The idea was to buy a house, rehab the house, have the mystery writer write a book portraying a murder as taking place in the house, and then sell the house to the highest bidder. This takes place in Los Angeles, so of course the bids were going to be very high. But then the wives start being murdered, along with the mystery writer and her accountant. The two cops investigating, Mike Lomax and Terry Biggs, are becoming increasingly panicked that Terry’s wife, the only partner left will be killed. The suspect seems to be pretty close to the scene, and Lomax and Biggs have to start investigating even their own buddies. This is a very good book with several twists and turns.
