Curriculum Connection:
1st grade writing prompt: what is the best surprise you’ve ever given or what is the best surprise you’ve ever received? Why? Students practice writing using the plot elements: who, what, where, and when? Start with a flower cutout, with five petals or leaves to brainstorm with. Students write the title in the middle of the flower and on the petals or leaves write the answers to those five questions.

Grades: K-1
