Who but Sarah Vowell could make learning about presidential assassinations funny? Actually, who else would make it a vacation? She traces the roots of the first three such events (leaving out Kennedy on purpose), including giving the reader a better sense of the world during each era -- the social and political movements, as well as the everyday details of the lives of those involved. Irreverent and wonderful!
