Wendi I'm very interested to read why you gave this book two stars but Confessions of a Shopaholic five. Divine is better written, more original, and deals with such thick story lines. Shopaholic, while entertaining, wasn't written very well and completely materialistic. Devil Wears Prada, also not written very well but entertaining, however, it's my opinion that Divine is again a much, much better book. Maybe it's because I grew up in the South. Maybe it's because I came from a family where my grandmother was abused and then abused my mom who then verbally abused me that I connected with the characters in Divine in such a way that the book almost feels like I'm reading about my own life. It's one of those books that reminds me that I'm not alone and that my mom did the best that she possibly could and that her mother did the same - we are all surviving and doing what we can with what we know.
