This story is simply about whether you would rather be left in ignorance or whether you would rather know the whole truth. This book is about a young boy named Jonas who at 12 yrs old is given his career of becoming a receiver. The receiver in the community is the only person who has memories of the old time - which is basically how we live in our world.

it is sad at times and also hopeful in the end, the world is so far from our own that it is an interesting view to read about. I also think this is a brilliant book for school reading, it would bring up a brilliant debate and there are so many questions to ask after reading it. Another YA book that I wish I had read when I was younger.
