Several years after the events of the first book, Kate's sister Emily gets the spotlight.

After she accidentally rejects the goblin Seylin's proposal, he leaves the kingdom (with Marak's permission of course) and decides to find the elves. When Emily learns why he ran away, she leaves to find him. The book then switches between Seylin's interactions with the group of elves he finds, Emily's journey to find Seylin, and Marak keeping tabs on them both.

It was pretty good but my only problem was the ending. When they find each other, the immediately become secondary characters. I liked the supporting cast a lot but the ending should have been more about Seylin and Emily, not them. It just didn't seem to fit properly...

Other than the bump at the end, this is another enjoyable read from Dunkle. A bit boring at times but I never even thought about not finishing it.
