Read in July, 2009

Having lived in North Dakota, I couldn't resist reading this book about a young artist from N.D. who goes to NYC to study art, then returns for a summer to a tiny town in N.D. to draw and paint while leading bike tours for tourists. The author's descriptions and impressionistic paintings capture the unique character of the place and the people so perfectly that I found myself constantly chuckling and thinking, "Yes, yes, that's it exactly!"Sharp, funny, surprising, moving--a great read.

Doris sounds good...will add to my list (because of "She got up off the couch..." I have a lot of confidence in your recommendations).
